Affiliated with Tribhuvan University, Chitwan Medical College (CMC) was established in 2006 and transitioned into a medical college in 2009. It holds the distinction of being the first ISO certified medical college and operates as a private institution.

CMC is equipped with a prominent tertiary care hospital, playing a crucial role in maintaining public health in Nepal's central region. According to WDOMS, in 2018, 100 students enrolled in the MBBS program, with approximately 50 students from India joining annually.

The college comprises four academic verticals: the School of Medicine & Allied Sciences, School of Dental Science, School of Nursing, and School of Public Health. The School of Medicine & Allied Sciences offers the MBBS program.

CMC holds all necessary accreditation and recognition, meeting the criteria established by the Nepal Medical Council (NMC). Graduates are eligible to practice in India upon clearing the NEXT exam. However, due to its relatively recent establishment, the quality of education at CMC remains uncertain.
